• Scheduling: Brewing often creates variable schedules each week including long hours. Being organized,building schedules and timelines for ingredient orders, brewing, cleaning and packaging will be essential.

Job Description - Brewery Assistant

​

As brewery assistant at the Rival Trade Brewing Co., you are responsible for supporting the Head Brewer with all production tasks including, but not limited to operating and assisting with brewing, kegging, packaging, cleaning, QA/QC, and routine maintenance. You are expected to multi-task and maintain a strong attention to detail with respect to all work being performed. You must show an eagerness to learn, listen and follow direction, ask questions and take notes of procedures. A positive attitude is required while at work and with other members of the team.

You are responsible for coordinating with the Head Brewer who will direct your weekly tasks based on the production schedule, which is subject to changes and fluctuations and requires you to be flexible. Efficiency is extremely important to us. We don’t micromanage but we do want to work with you to help optimize your efficiency. The assistant brewer should also recognize that everything we do at work as well as in public reflects on the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Live and learn the culture, history, policies, and vision of Rival Trade Brewing Company.

• Assist and Head Brewer with all aspects of the brewing process, fermentation, yeast management, carbonating beer to required packaging specs (checking CO2 levels).

• Operate canning line/packaging beer (kegs and canning).

• Maintain a spotless brewhouse and brewery area.

• Perform CIPs on all brewing vessels, cellar vessels, hoses, and equipment according to the cleaning regiment while meeting all production timelines.

•  Maintain a safe, clean, and clutter-free brewery 

• Assist brewers with developing/refining SOPs (Standard Operational Practices)

• Complete all necessary data logging and paperwork properly and on time.

• Document (via computer and manual logs) cleaning, calibration, packaging, brewing, and maintenance tasks.

• Organize brewery equipment and supplies.

• Regularly review product quality

• Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.

• Clean kegs to ensure packaging schedule can be met for onsite and offsite requirements.

• Assist with sales tasks including pulling and occasionally delivering sales orders.

• Receive/maintain/document inventory for all ingredients and products.

• Brewing experience is an asset, but not required. On the job training will be provided.
