Head Brewer

Full Time Position

Wage: based on experience ($23-$30)

Shift/Schedule: 4 days/week @ 10hrs/ day

Rival Trade Brewing Co. is seeking out an experienced, confident brewer ready and willing to work in a fast paced, rapidly growing, team focused environment. The individual must be adaptable and versatile, and excited to grow with our company as we expand.

Job Description - Head Brewer

As the Head Brewer at Rival Trade Brewing Co, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing all operations in the brewery from grain to glass. This includes ordering raw ingredients, organizing primary ingredient inventory, brewing beer, recipe creation, packaging, and tank and line cleaning/sanitization.

A positive attitude is required while at work and with other members of the team.

Efficiency is extremely important to us. We don’t micromanage but we do want to work with you to help optimize your efficiency. The head brewer should also recognize that everything we do at work, as well as in public reflects on the business.


  • Live and learn the culture, history, policies, and vision of Rival Trade Brewing Company.

  • Oversee and assist brewery packaging/cleaning staff with day to day brewing tasks (packaging, cleaning, fermentation, yeast management, carbonating beer to required packaging specs (checking CO2 levels) etc.

  • Packaging beer (kegs and canning).

  • Maintain a spotless brewhouse and brewery area.

  • Perform CIPs on all brewing vessels, cellar vessels, hoses, and equipment according to the cleaning regiment while meeting all production timelines.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and clutter-free brewery 

  • Developing/refining SOPs (Standard Operational Practices)

  • Complete all necessary data logging and paperwork properly and on time.

  • Document (via computer and manual logs) cleaning, calibration, packaging, brewing, and maintenance tasks.

  • Organize brewery equipment and supplies.

  • Regularly review product quality

  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.

  • Clean kegs to ensure packaging schedule can be met for onsite and offsite requirements.

  • Receive/maintain/document inventory for all ingredients and products.



  • This position requires a hard working, dedicated, and self-motivated individual with the ability to synthesize information and intelligently troubleshoot.

  • Dedication to continued improvement, growth, and learning is extremely important.

  • You must be willing to rise to any task. We’re growing rapidly therefore versatility is necessary.  

  • Must be physically fit: This position requires long periods of standing, repetitive movements and lifting heavy brewery items such as kegs and grain.

  • You value quality above all and are willing to devote the appropriate care and attention to every step of the process.

  • Display a positive attitude and be a role model for the brewery and the industry as a whole especially at the end of a long/hard shift. Attitude is key and will take you much further in this job and company.

Education & Experience:

  • Brewmaster & Brewery Operations diploma

  • Brewing experience is required.

  • Experience with Beer30 is considered an asset
